About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Design Manager to lead and manage the design process for a range of high-profile projects. Based in Liverpool, you will oversee all aspects of M&E design, ensuring that projects are delivered to the highest standards, on time, and within budget. Key Responsibilities



Design Leadership:

* Lead and manage the M&E design team to deliver coordinated and efficient mechanical and electrical designs.
* Oversee the design process from concept to completion, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulations.
* Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior design staff.



Project Management:

* Collaborate with project managers, clients, and consultants to ensure design requirements are met.
* Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, and other disciplines to achieve fully integrated design solutions.
* Review and approve detailed design documentation, including drawings, calculations, and specifications.
* Ensure timely delivery of design packages, aligning with project deadlines.



Compliance and Quality Control:

* Ensure designs meet building regulations, health and safety requirements, and environmental standards.
* Conduct regular design reviews to maintain high quality and identify potential risks or conflicts.



Stakeholder Engagement:

* Act as the primary point of contact for design-related queries, addressing client concerns and providing technical advice.
* Present design concepts and updates to stakeholders, ensuring clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.



Continuous Improvement:

* Stay updated with emerging technologies, trends, and regulations in the Mandamp;E industry.
* Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency within the design process.

Qualifications and Experience



Essential:

* Proven experience in M&E design management within the construction or building services sector.
* Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, power distribution, lighting, and energy-efficient solutions.
* Excellent project management and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other relevant tools.
* Comprehensive knowledge of building regulations, British Standards, and relevant codes of practice.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and team members.

 

Desirable:

* Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
* Membership of a professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IET).
* Experience with sustainable and low-carbon design solutions.
