Cost Controller

Our client, a company renowned for quality and innovation in structural frameworks and large-scale steel installations, is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to manage the financial costing aspects of their key steel-focused projects. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a proven track record in the steel industry, exceptional analytical skills, and expertise in cost control and contract management.

Key Responsibilities

* Ensure cost variances are reported promptly and accurately, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
* Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly costs to ensure budgets are adhered to and reporting is accurate.
* Prepare and submit interim valuations monthly to maintain positive project cash flow.
* Oversee interim valuations, applications for payment, and negotiate project final accounts.
* Produce internal cost/value reports when required
* Evaluate hours allocated during the tender process against actual hours worked in fabrication.
* Conduct steel take-offs, measuring and qualifying materials from drawings and specifications.
* Raise and issue sub-contract orders where applicable (e.g., decking).
* Enter budgets and costings into the company's software systems.
* Manage and record contracts, bonds, retentions, and collateral warranty documentation.
* Attend client pre-construction and start meetings, as required.
* Work collaboratively with various departments to ensure proper cost allocation and control.

* Comprehensive understanding of steel-related costs, supplier networks, and contract management practices (essential).
* Exceptional analytical and numerical abilities.
* Skilled communicator and negotiator with a purposeful, results-driven approach.
* Strong attention to detail and precision.
