A Tier 1 Contractor are currently looking to recruit a Design Manager to join their North West business. The role will involve managing the design of projects from tender stage through to the delivery stage. Projects are predominantly within the Education and Health sectors up to £40m.

Duties will include:

* Co-ordinate the design and planning from tender stage through to project delivery
* Help develop innovative and cost effective design solutions in conjunction with the design team
* Adopt a proactive approach to value engineering throughout the design phase
* Develop and manage the programmes for the production of information for both procurement and construction purposes
* Analyse risks and opportunities
* Hold regular design team meetings
* Review of designs and cost planning
* Managing and monitoring of design and planning development
* Develop relationships with client

Experience:

* Experience in a similar role, preferably with a Main contractor
* A proven track record of undertaking Design Manager duties at both pre-construction and construction stages of projects
* Degree qualified in a relevant construction subject
* Education and Healthcare experience would be advantageous but not essential
* Excellent communication skills, both at the personal level and more formal reporting level
* Competent user of MS packages
* Competent user of Collaborative platforms such as 4Projects
* Causeway or similar estimating software (desirable)
* Knowledge of current Building Regulations
* Knowledge of fire compartmentation (highly desirable);
* Knowledge of current BREEAM/Passiv haus requirements

The company will pay a basic salary up to £65000 plus car or allowance and full benefits package
